Date Night with Pirosmani

A date with art and other night owls, animal horoscopes, spherical sounds and a look at the stars
The works of the mythical artist Niko Pirosmani are on display at the Fondation Beyeler until January 28. On the occasion of Museum Night, the impressive works can also be viewed at night: on January 19, the museum will remain open until two o'clock in the morning and invites visitors to a "Date Night with Pirosmani". Short discussions of the works will allow visitors to immerse themselves in the fascinating world of the Georgian artist. Young poets will recite their texts on Pirosmani, and exciting animal horoscopes will be created inspired by the many animal portraits. In the park, visitors can grill bread and marshmallows over an open fire, accompanied by spherical sounds. "Date Night with Pirosmani" promises a night full of art and romantic encounters.
Museum Night is an event organized by museen basel and the Basel-Stadt Department of Culture. On 19 January 2024, 41 museums and cultural institutions offer a rich program from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.: www.museumsnacht.ch

The booklet with ten exciting ideas for children to join in invites them to discover the "Niko Pirosmani" exhibition room by room.
6.30–7.30 p.m.
Young poets present their texts on works by Niko Pirosmani, which were created under the guidance of Basel poet and spoken word artist Sarah Altenaichinger.
A cooperation with the Lyrikfestival Basel and Wortstellwerk.
12–2 a.m.
Discovery tour with tea and flashlight to exciting places and sculptures in the museum park.
