Barrier-free experience of art

The museum is fully wheelchair accessible, as are the paths in Berower Park. Detailed information can be found below.

We cordially invite you to take advantage of our range of tours and workshops.

As an IV recipient, you pay a reduced admission price. Admission is free for persons accompanying people with walking disabilities who are unable to visit the museum independently.

Getting there

We recommend travelling by public transport: low-floor tram no. 10 from the SBB railway station to the theatre (BLT Baselland Transport AG, tel. 061 406 11 11), then tram no. 6 to the "Fondation Beyeler" stop (Basler Verkehrs-Betriebe, tel. 061 685 14 14). Both lines almost always offer low-floor trams.

It is also possible to travel by car or with the disabled transport service for both Basel cantons (tel. 061 666 66 66, advance booking required). A marked disabled parking space is available on Baselstrasse at the entrance to the "Zentrum" car park.

Museum accessibility

From the main entrance to the museum grounds, a 50-metre-long access ramp with a slight gradient of 6.25% leads into the museum. The entire interior is accessible on one level without thresholds or obstacles. The basement is accessible by lift during exhibitions: door width 85 cm, lift 140 cm.

Floor conditions

The museum rooms have parquet flooring, the access ramp to the museum is paved with stone slabs and the forecourt around Villa Berower is cobbled. The paths through the park consist of fine sandy gravel but are accessible by wheelchair.

In-house wheelchairs for visitors with walking difficulties

Two in-house wheelchairs are available for visitors with walking difficulties and can be borrowed (reservations can be made by calling 061 645 97 00). Folding chairs are also available at the entrance so that you can sit down at any time during your tour of the exhibition.

Toilet

There is a wheelchair-accessible toilet in the museum foyer: door width 95 cm, seat height 47 cm, folding handles and grab rails are provided. The washbasin is wheelchair-accessible and the mirror is low down.

Restaurant

The garden terrace of the Beyeler Restaurant in the park is easily accessible by wheelchair. However, the restaurant itself is only accessible with assistance. There is a threshold leading inside: door width 70 cm, second door leaf can be opened. The toilet facilities are also only partially accessible by wheelchair: door width 60 cm, seat height 41 cm.
