Together with the Institute Art Gender Nature IAGN at the FHNW Basel Academy of Art and Design, we welcome Yvonne Volkart, head of research and author, artist and PhD candidate Mariana Tilly (both IAGN), Helen V. Pritchard (head of research IXDM Basel) and curator and researcher Sascia Bailer (Müllheim). In our crisis-ridden times, care has become the great promise of salvation. Increasingly, art is also expected to make an active commitment to caring. How can care for and with others be explored artistically? How can we reject notions of salvation and hold onto both accountability and care? How can it open itself up to more-than-human concerns? And: How can care be inscribed into the conditions of production and (infra-)structures of the art sector so that current conditions can be made just? Both the discussion between Sascia Bailer, Helen Pritchard and Yvonne Volkart and the story-telling performance by Mariana Tilly (& friends) attempt to address the burning questions and ambivalences surrounding care. The evening will be held in English.

Enjoy a relaxed evening out at the museum after work: ‘Friday Beyeler’ is the perfect way to kick off the weekend. The museum is open until 9 pm and the restaurant until 10 pm. Unless otherwise stated, admission to ‘Friday Beyeler’ is included in the museum ticket. If you spend at least CHF 25 per person in the restaurant, you can enter the museum on the same evening for free.
