Extended until September 20, 2020
The exhibition at the Fondation Beyeler will focus on Hopper’s iconic representations of the infinite expanse of American landscapes and cityscapes. To date, this aspect has rarely been highlighted in exhibitions devoted to Edward Hopper, yet it is key to understanding his work and its reception. With watercolors and oil paintings dating from the 1910s to the 1960s, the exhibition will provide an extensive and exciting overview of the multifaceted nature of Edward Hopper’s oeuvre.

EXTENDED UNTIL END OF NOVEMBER 2020
Modernity as the age of technical progress is characterised mainly by movement and velocity, which have also found multiple manifestations in art. At the same time, a longing for deceleration has evolved, which to this day expresses itself in ever new images of calm and quiet. Especially in times of ever increasing acceleration such as ours, the need for peace and repose seems particularly pronounced.

The Fondation Beyeler's main goal is to bring art and spectator together. Through our guided tours and workshops, we do not only share knowledge about artists, works and epochs, we create above all a space in which to deepen observations and exchange different views, perceptions, thoughts and feelings. Our goal is to let stories and therefore connections develop between the artwork and the viewer and it's especially important to the Fondation Beyeler that children and young people also be able to find their very own stories and connections.
Guided tours and workshops will take place again to a limited extent from July. Public offers in the museum and in the park can be found in our agenda.
Private guided tours from 4 p.m. and evening events after regular opening hours can be booked through the Guided Tour Coordination on +41616459720 or email@example.com. Private guided tours until 4 p.m. and school tours will continue to take place only in our parc.
