Participatory Day: Urban Vegetable Fields (in German)

The Participatory Day begins with a tour of the “Ruth Asawa” exhibition focussing on the artist’s passion for gardening and botanical drawing. This is followed by an excursion to the vegetable fields farmed by the association “Verein plankton” to explore the concept and reality of community-supported agriculture and take an active part working in the fields. Participants join in harvesting, weeding and caring for the land, and discuss the concept of the edible city.


Open to all 16 and over.No prior knowledge required. 

Please bring: sturdy footwear, weatherproof clothing, a beverage & snack.

Gardening gloves and tools will be provided!


The excursion will take place in any weather. It will be cancelled in case of severe bad weather.


Schedule: 

11.00am–12noon Exhibition tour “Ruth Asawa”

12noon–12.30pm Journey to plankton, Bäumlihof (individually by tram or bike)

12.30pm Meeting point at Bäumlihof, lunch snack and welcome address by plankton

1.00pm–3.00pm Presentation and participatory programme in the vegetable fields guided by 2 gardeners
