“Northern Lights” Family Day events schedule

Sunday, 4 May 2025, 10 a.m.–6 p.m.

The Family Day for the "Northern Lights" exhibition invites you to explore the world of mysterious forests and fascinating light phenomena. Interactive family tours and the activity booklet provide entertaining access to the artworks in the exhibition. Children can travel on the storytelling magic carpet or explore nature with Owl Ursula in the Fondation Beyeler park. Various creative workshops for all ages will play host to design activities, experiments and games.

Location: "Northern Lights" exhibition, collection presentation, in the studios and in the park

Register for activities in the museum on site at the information desk.

All events are included in the museum admission fee; advance booking is not possible. Admission up to the age of 25 is free.

French: 12.30 p.m., 3.30 p.m.

What do the paintings have to say? Children aged three to six and their parents/guardians are invited to sit on a colourful rug in front of the paintings in the exhibition, listen to stories and create their own.

The activity booklet offers numerous ideas for exploring the works in the exhibition together and becoming creative yourself. It is available free of charge in the museum foyer.

In the park and in the studios

With the help of sunlight, a little chemistry, leaves, grass and flowers, you can create fascinating compositions in blue and white. Cyanotyping is a photographic process that invites creative experimentation.

The Northern Lights are one of the most exciting natural phenomena in the night sky. The colourful light display is immortalised in mysterious nocturnal landscapes on large easels.

The forest and its inhabitants have always inspired artists to create fairy-tale and sometimes eerie motifs. A variety of natural materials can be used to create floating, surrealist mythical creatures.

Owl Ursula and an expert from the Landschaftspark Wiese invite you to discover the trees and their stories in the museum park.

Discover the museum park and get creative! "The thingamajig in the park" can be rented free of charge from the mobile studio.
