Physicality and abstraction: a dialogue between fashion and art

How far can we abstract a body from its physical form? And how does fashion take this abstraction to a deeper conversation about body norms? Henri Matisse's journey to abstraction, on display in the exhibition "Matisse - Invitation to the Voyage", forms a visual map for how the body could be abstracted in its visualisation in both art and fashion and detached from the culturally shaped view. Amidst the inspiring works of Henri Matisse and with the help of expressive fashion creations, stylist and creative Tim Tobias Zimmermann opens up the dialogue between fashion, art, physicality and abstraction as host of this "Friday Beyeler" evening. Meeting point: Foyer: The talk and presentation will be held in English. Pre-registration is not required for this event.
