Friday Beyeler

Zigi Rauschenberg x Friday Beyeler

Sophie Grossmann (born in 1991) is an art historian specialising in the history of textile arts and a fashion collector. She founded Zigi Rauschenberg as a private fashion archive in Zurich, comprising antique clothing and vintage fashion from the late 19th to the mid-20th century, including elaborately crafted evening wear and rare couture pieces. Henri Matisse also collected textiles and clothes, which he bought on his travels and in antique shops. For his works, Matisse repeatedly drew on his inventory, giving these textiles a new form of expression. In dialogue with Sophie Grossmann’s collection, visitors can discover this aspect of the artist’s work in a new way. Meeting point: foyer in the museum. The event will be held in German and English. Advance booking is not required for this event.

Enjoy a relaxed evening out at the museum after work: Friday Beyeler is the perfect way to kick off the weekend. The museum is open until 9 pm and the restaurant until 10 pm. More information can be found at fondationbeyeler.ch
