The Fondation Beyeler is presenting one of the most important exhibitions ever devoted to Francisco de Goya outside of Spain. Goya was one of the last major court artists and the first pioneer of modern art.
"Georgia O’Keeffe" 23.1.2022 – 22.5.2022
From O’Keeffe’s earliest abstractions to her iconic depictions of flowers and landscapes of the American Southwest, the retrospective will offer an in-depth survey of the artist’s work including rarely seen paintings from public and private collections.
"Mondrian" 5.6.2022 – 9.10.2022
Marking the 150th anniversary of the artist’s birth, the Fondation Beyeler will devote an exhibition to the Dutch painter Piet Mondrian. As one of the most important artists of the avant-garde movement, Mondrian shaped the evolution of painting from figuration to abstraction.
"Día de Muertos" on Halloween at the Fondation Beyeler
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 30, 3–10 P.M. – On the occasion of the exhibitions "CLOSE-UP" with works by Mexican painter Frida Kahlo and "Goya", we invite you to the "Día de Muertos", the Day of the Dead, at the Fondation Beyeler. In Mexican tradition, we welcome the spirits of the deceased into the realm of the living on this day and celebrate a joyful reunion with music, colourful activities and good food.
Goya lecture by Juliet Wilson Bareau
WEDNESDAY 24 NOVEMBER, 6.30 p.m. – Juliet Wilson Bareau is a recognised expert on the art of Francisco de Goya and has curated several exhibitions of the Spanish painter’s work. We are delighted to welcome her for the lecture «Goya, pieds sur terre: le maître et ses images» at the museum. The lecture will take place in French.

"Snowman" by Fischli/Weiss
The sculpture shows the friendly and familiar figure of a snowman, consisting of three stacked snowballs, the top and smallest one displaying two holes for eyes and a dash for a mouth. It stands in a refrigerator with a glass door, allowing it to exist throughout the year.

Film and Game "Das Dingsda im Museum"

art.set w/ Adriatique — Fondation Beyeler x Nordstern
For the latest installment of our “art.set” series together with “Nordstern Basel” and “Arte Concert” two outstanding duos meet for the first time: The spherical electro-sounds of Adriatique converge with the iconic presence of the “Thinker” and “Ptolemäus III” sculptures from the recent “Rodin/Arp” exhibition. Their encounter culminates in a unique interplay of sounds and visuals featuring a specially created light display.
