Doris Salcedo: "Palimpsest" | 9.10.2022 – 17.9.2023
The Fondation Beyeler is going to show "Palimpsest", an exhibition project by Colombian artist Doris Salcedo that addresses the global migration crisis.
Wayne Thiebaud | 29.1.23 – 21.5.2023
The exhibition at the Fondation Beyeler will show the many aspects of Thiebaud’s work: next to still lifes it will also feature portraits as well as multiperspectival cityscapes and landscapes, with which he redefined this seemingly old-established art historical genre.
PICASSO | 19.2.23 – 1.5.23
Joining the international commemorations of the fiftieth anniversary of the death of Pablo Picasso (1881–1973), the Fondation Beyeler will present a selection of late paintings concerned with images of artist and model.
Doris Salcedo | 21.5.23 – 17.9.23
Next summer, the Fondation Beyeler will devote a large solo exhibition to internationally acclaimed Colombian artist Doris Salcedo (*1958), featuring key works from the different phases of her career. It will be Salcedo’s first museum exhibition in Switzerland.
Basquiat. The Modena Paintings | 11.6.23 – 27.8.23
In the summer of 1982, Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960–1988) painted a group of large-format works for one of his first solo shows, supposed to go on view at a gallery in Modena, Italy. However, the project was cancelled before the show’s opening and the paintings were never shown together.
Valentine's Day at the Fondation Beyeler "A Date at Beyeler"
TUESDAY, 14 FEBRUARY, 11 A.M. – 5 P.M. | The Fondation Beyeler looks forward to welcoming you with some tempting Valentine's Day surprises, inspired by Wayne Thiebaud's popular images of mouthwatering pies, cupcakes, ice-cream and other sweets. On 14 February, visitors can decorate cookies in the style of Thiebaud's paintings, or send a Valentine's greeting from Cake Heaven to their loved ones; as a further Valentine attraction we shall be offering a museum tour in speed-dating format.
Film screening and talk with Albert Oehlen and Ulf Küster
WEDNESDAY, 25 FEBRUARY, 5–8 P.M. | Albert Oehlen, one of the most important living artists, has made a film with Oliver Hirschbiegel and Ben Becker. The film “The Painter” in which his (satirical) alter ego is played by one of Germany’s best-known actors, Ben Becker, is a critical, tongue-in-cheek anatomy of art, the role of the artist and the art business. After the screening, Albert Oehlen and Ulf Küster will discuss the film. The screening will begin at 5 p.m. and the talk will commence after a short break at 7 p.m.
FRIDAYS, 3 FEBRUARY – 12 MAY 2023, 6–10 P.M. | Various exhibition tours, workshops and studio sessions will be available to help visitors explore the work of Wayne Thiebaud. On one Friday evening in each month, a series of events curated by Chus Martinez, director of the Institut Kunst Gender Natur, will be taking place under the title "The Nights of the Smiling Moons". These evenings of music, poetry, and dance are a continuation of the cooperation with students of the Institut Kunst Gender Natur at the Basel Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst FHNW.

"24 Stops" – Rehberger-Weg
The Rehberger-Weg runs approximately 5 kilometers and joins two countries, two communities, two cultural institutions – and countless stories. It runs between Riehen and Weil am Rhein, between the Fondation Beyeler and the Vitra Campus. Along the “24 Stops,” 24 milestones created by artist Tobias Rehberger (b.1966), you can explore the diverse natural and cultural landscape. The Rehberger-Weg provides the opportunity to get to know the history and stories of the area and its people while getting out into nature.
The Fondation Beyeler's main goal is to bring art and viewer together. In our guided tours and workshops, we do not only share knowledge about artists, works, and epochs. We create above all a space in which to deepen observations and exchange different views, perceptions, thoughts, and feelings.
Film and Game "Das Dingsda im Museum"
The new museum game invites children and adults to discover the works of art based on questions in a playful way and in exchange with each other. It can be borrowed free of charge from the Art Shop of the Fondation Beyeler for your museum visit and is suitable for every exhibition. Only avaible in German.
