January 21 – April 29, 2018

To mark Georg Baselitz’s 80th birthday, the Fondation Beyeler is devoting an extensive exhibition to him. A focused retrospective will bring together many of the most significant paintings and sculptures he has created during the last six decades. The juxtaposition on an equal footing of key works dating from all phases of Baselitz’s career will demonstrate the uniquely inventive richness of his oeuvre’s form and content. Visitors to the exhibition will embark on a voyage into beauty and ugliness, multiple meanings and disconcertingness.

The exhibition is being organized in cooperation with the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C, where it will be shown after its presentation in Riehen.
