The entire museum is accessible to wheelchair users, as are the paths of the beautiful Berower Park. The museum has a 50-meter-long access ramp with a gradient of 6.25%. The interior is on one level without thresholds or obstacles. We also invite you to take advantage of our regular tours and workshops

Floors and terrain

The rooms of the museum have parquet floors, the access ramp to the museum is made of stone slabs, and the courtyard around the Villa Berower is paved with cobblestones. The paths in the park are made of fine sand and gravel but are suitable for wheelchair use.

Restaurant

The garden terrace of the museum restaurant is fully wheelchair-accessible. The interior of the restaurant can be accessed only with assistance. There is a threshold at the entrance; door width is 70 cm, but a second door panel can be opened on request. The restrooms are also partly accessible to wheelchairs: door width is 60 cm, seat height is 41 cm.

Arrival

We recommend using public transport: tram 10 from the SBB train station to the "Theater" stop (BLT Baselland Transport AG, Tel. +41 61 406 11 11), change to tram 6 and get off at the “Fondation Beyeler” stop (Basler Verkehrs-Betriebe, Tel. +41 61 685 12 12). Both lines operate almost exclusively with low-floor trams.

You can also come with your own car or with the Basel Municipal Disabled Persons Transport Service (Tel. +41 61 666 66 66, advance notification required). There is a marked parking lot for people with disabilities on Baselstrasse, at the entrance of the “Zentrum” garage.

Restrooms and lower level

There is a wheelchair accessible restroom in the foyer of the museum: door width is 95 cm, seat height is 47 cm, fold-down handles and grips are provided. The washbasin can be used with a wheelchair and the mirror is hung low. Exhibitions on the lower level can be reached by elevator: door width is 85 cm, elevator is 140 cm wide.

Wheelchairs on-site for persons with impaired mobility

The museum also has two wheelchairs that may be borrowed on-site (reservation at Tel. +41 61 645 97 11). Folding chairs are available at the entrance in case you need to sit occasionally during your visit to the exhibition.
