Art education in collaboration

In the summer of 2019, the Fondation Beyeler's Art Education department launched a close cooperation with the Erlensträsschen elementary school in Riehen, located behind the new museum park. Together, we are trying out new approaches in art education, with the aim of developing participative projects for implementation in the museum and the park.

This framework provides some 200 children with a self-directed, immersive experience of art, involving all the senses. Our close cooperation ensures that interaction and participation will be central to all our new projects for this age group.

For kindergarten groups

Since 2020 the Art Education department at the Fondation Beyeler has been offering a chance for children aged four to six to experience art in the museum and the studios. The group encounter with art, ably assisted by the hand-puppet Ursula the Owl, is carefully planned with the kindergarten teachers, and comprises four sessions, at the kindergarten, and in the museum and the studios. This gives the children enough time to familiarize themselves with the location and the art works, and to become active themselves.

The four sessions are spread over a period of three to four weeks, depending on the exhibition, the subject, and the kindergarten timetable. The kindergarten offering is available for around ten groups in each school year.

If you are interested in the scheme, please contact the education coordinators by e-mail.
