THE FONDATION BEYELER AT ART BASEL 2021
The Fondation Beyeler commemorates Ernst Beyeler, the museum founder and co-founder of Art Basel, in 2021, who would have celebrated his 100th birthday this year. During the art fair, the Fondation Beyeler offers a varied programme with the exhibitions "CLOSE-UP" and "Natureculture", as well as a wide range of events and activities.
The Fondation Beyeler presentation at this year's Art Basel, taking place under pandemic conditions, is devoted to two outstanding artists—Francis Bacon and Felix Gonzalez-Torres —whose work was particularly concerned with the themes of love, loss, and pain.

"Machine Concrète," a Dixon x Transmoderna virtual reality installation
SEPTEMBER 20–24 – This virtual reality installation will be sited in the Fondation Beyeler Park. Visitors, equipped with VR glasses, will be able to experience the multidimensional digital version of the museum with a soundtrack of music by Dixon. The installation has been created by modeling elements of reality – Renzo Piano's museum building, works from the Beyeler collection, and the museum park – in 3D, and then reinterpreting the results and interpolating the visual material with music. In conjunction with Art Basel, the Fondation Beyeler presents "Machine Concrète", continuing the cooperation with electronic music artist Dixon and the Transmoderna creative collective as well as Nordstern Basel.
