A comprehensive catalogue has been published to accompany our spectacular summer exhibition of the great sculptors Constantin Brancusi and Richard Serra. The volume is devoted to the pathfinding oeuvres of these two renewers of twentieth-century sculpture. A direct juxtaposition of their works reveals traits in common but also fascinating differences and makes the universal force of sculpture in space compellingly evident.
Published by the Fondation Beyeler, with essays by F.T. Bach, distinguished Brancusi expert, Oliver Wick, exhibition curator, Alfred Pacquement and J. Matisse Monnier. Considerations of the works by a range of authors and annotated biographies of the two artists make this catalogue a treasure trove of information, suggestions and ideas. The illustrated section of the catalogue features full-page reproductions in our time-tested quality. All of the exhibits on view are illustrated in the catalogue.
